Interesting Transfer 2012 Situation

I’m planning on transferring to Cal Poly for fall 2012. By the end of this year I’ll have all my required pre-reqs done, I’ll have completed my IGETC, and I’ll have about 66 units completed. However, I’m still in an interesting situation.

I took seven AP classes in high school, and passed all seven tests which earned me a total of 30 units of transferable credit at Cal Poly. It also fulfilled a bunch of my IGETC requirements; basically, if I finished my IGETC, I could be in and out of community college within one year and that’s what I’m doing right now.

However, because this is only my first semester in community college, I don’t have any grades with which to apply. So, no GPA to put down. I have A’s in all my classes so far and we’re three months in, but what am I supposed to tell Cal Poly? Do I put projected grades for the fall term? do I just put “in progress” and “planned” for every course I list, and then if I don’t meet the requirements later they rescind me?

Obviously I’m in the same situation with every school, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. Applying as a sociology major.

Interesting indeed…bump for responses.

Call admissions

I emailed admissions and they eventually got back to me this morning. Obviously, I will not have any GPA to apply with, which isn’t a problem for UCs because they allow you to update transcripts in January. But the email from Cal Poly stated that I won’t be competitive at all in the admissions process because I will not have a GPA until two weeks after applications are due.

BUT…say I were to submit my application at the end of november. If I were 99% confident of the final grades I am going to receive, would I be able to just put these projected grades down as final grades? I know I run the risk of being rescinded if my projected grades are not correct, but if what I project and what I enter are the same, is there a problem?

Please don’t rip me apart for thinking about that, if it is indeed bad. I’d just like some opinions/ideas :)
