Anybody get any news lately? I'm in the same position as this thread's starter ...

With different extras, of course .. but still waiting ...

Yeah I'm still waiting here. I'm on Spring Break and thought I would hear by now... starting to worry a little bit, but I guess so is everyone else who hasn't heard. Hopefully we will all hear soon-

it is not a big deal if you don't get into ss, though it is not very motivating at first:/ i had to force myself to keep going when i got rejected so keep on truckin' and hope for the best.

FYI.. You can call USNA Admissions and ask for the NASS Admissions and they can tell you your status for NASS. I believe her name is Captain Byrd. My daughter called to change from Session II to I last week and was able to get right through and they changed her week without any hesitation.

Yeah I probably could call. I think that I'll give it around two more weeks before I decide to give admissions a call and see where I stand. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I just haven't recieved anything yet. Hope for the best guys :)

I'm praying for ya

Did any current high school seniors receive a NASS ACCEPTANCE letter in April last year?

My fear is that all the acceptance letters are gone and they've started sending out the rejection ones; this is merely speculation, of course. Let's hope for the best!

Current Seniors? Don't you have to be a junior to go to NASS?

Yeah -- I want to know if anybody who was in my shoes last year ended up being admitted to NASS.

I just looked it up--my daughter applied March 3 and heard March 22nd last year. Hoping you still hear!

In response to questions about my previous post here:

It was the 800 M district qualifier. I was pegged for a good sub-2 time, but with the fall, I ran a 2:05....I ran that as a freshman...needless to say, I was PO'ed. Even a year later, I still think about that race...

I am indeed still waiting

Colby Buss here from MD, I run track as well, 4x4 all the way

Waiting here as well. But on a visit to USNA on Saturday the Admissions Officer said that the geographic locations of candidates who apply to NASS are strongly considered. Faraway candidiates are offered slots first because NASS is used as a recruitung tool. There was a Mid there who said that he was not accepted into NASS (I think he said he was from Maryland.)

Not getting into NASS does not hurt your chances of getting into USNA at all. Just keep that in mind. I am not saying this to make you feel better, I'm saying it because its the truth.

oh yea, But i still reallllly wanna go

but oh well . . . . (still havent gotten the letter though)

Still nothing?

In case it helps anyone out there ...

I called USNA Admissions today and they told me that they received my application and that I should receive a response "within a week" ...

I am a Florida applicant.

After submitting his application at 1:00 am on 2/1, my son has also not heard anything. In addition, when his SAT scores came in later in February, higher than the previous ones, he e-mailed admissions on 3 separate occasions to inquire about how he could update his scores. As the mail came today with no type of letter, I too called admissions and asked if they received the updates from the collegboard as they had not replied to my son. They had not and the woman who helped me was surprised no one answered my son. She updated his scores and when I said "I know you can't tell me his status but could you advise if all decisions have been made", she said all decisions will be made tomorrow (but my ears did not hear any enthusiasm as she was looking at my son's application in front of her - but perhaps I'm just bracing myself for the 'thin' letter so I can better support my son.)

Curious to know how his stats compare to others - I have been an avid reader of this forum - the information shared has been extremely helpful so thanks to everyone and congratulations to those appointed for this year and best of luck to those just starting the process.

Chackster, i didn't get a letter at all from NASS until i received an email saying we had to change something. It turned out that they had used the wrong address and i had never been notified. Don't give up hope, give Admissions a call (they are very friendly and helpful) and just ask.
