so uhm...should i just start over?

ok so i was a slacker in HS....and then i took some time off. I went back to CC and slacked there. Totally unimpressive couple of semesters. Low GPA, high withdrawal ratio...just ugly. Got suspended, took some more time off. Realized that I dont want to work at a call center for the rest of my life...realized that I was toootally unprepared for a college environment. Hooked myself up with some self-help, time management books...(I support myself, so I have to work full-time...and working fulltime and going to school fulltime is a beast, especially if you dont block your classes and make sure you're out of work before 12am)...decided I didnt really want to face the academic review board to get back into my old CC....now that I've done my research shouldnt have gone there to begin with...horrible course selection...applied and was admitted into Bunkerhill in Boston....now what do i do? i'm thinking just make a clean break and have 62 credits of solid good grades from bunkerhill as i would love to go somewhere other than a state school....is that wise? or is my thinking flawed?

your thinking is not flawed at all.

Your thinking is not flawed at all; go with where your heart is and start a clean slate. Good luck to you in this difficult endeavor.

Go with your gut.

Okay, your thinking is not flawed. In fact, I think your approach is admirable.

HOWEVER, you need to check that it will work the way you want in terms of transfer. What type of schools would you like to go to after Bunker Hill? You will have to check their policies on maximum number of credits you can have taken before transferring. Very possible that you can just transfer in the 62 from Bunker Hill and leave out the earlier courswork in terms of transfer credits. But it's also likely that you will not be able to have a "clean slate" in terms of never even mentioning that you attended the other cc. Most transfer apps require you to list every college you ever attended, even for just one course or summer course, and provide transcripts. I wouldn't worry about that - a great record at Bunker Hill, great recs and good essays can outweigh what went before. But you likely can't just pretend it never happened. You don't want to leave it off the app, because if discovered, you could get your admission rescinded.

Good luck to you.

I'm supporting myself by working parttime and living in subsidized housing that is income based. I suggest the same for anyone.

Thanks Jmmom for replying. If I maintain a high GPA I can get into any MA state school with 1/3 off tuition, so that's my best bet. Ideally I'd like to get into a smaller, private more rigorous liberal arts college...so that's what I'll aim for anyways. Yea, I know I will never be able to eliminate the previous coursework, I'll have to send the transcripts, but my hope is they can be viewed as a reflection of an immaturity and unpreparedness that I was able to overcome. Thanks Renix for the suggestion...I hadn't thought of that. But as it's now compulsory in MA to have health insurance...I don't want to lose the excellent (and cheap!) benefits I get through working full-time at my job. Thanks all for the advice. It makes me feel more secure in my decision.

I work PT and get full benefits.

geez! where do you work and can you get me a job there? As soon as I go below 38hrs a week I lose all my benefits...that's one heck of a job.

FedEx and UPS both do PT benefits. I work for FedEx, and yes you can have my job cuz I'm going to Brown next year and need a replacement. But I'm quite a ways from you!
