I've already finished the rough draft of this essay, but I'm not sure about the topic. It's basically about how music is a universal language and how my experiences shaped my understanding of music. Some themes I address are connections through music, my personal growth of understanding as a drum major about music, and the concept of trust as a musical virtue.

From my experiences in marching band, I really like what you said about the concept of trust, and I would be very interested in seeing which direction you’d take with that I think it’s a good idea for a topic, and the themes are more unique than talking about how you’ve become a better leader and stuff like that. I would just be careful to keep it from sounding general and cliche. Make sure you spice it up and make it lively and unique with your own personal experiences, maybe even add some humor and stories or an interesting tone or something else to make it stand out from the many other essays that will probably be written about music. But yeah, I really like the concepts that you came up with and I’ve found them really applicable to everything I’ve done in music. It’s just the way you present them that will really make you stand out. Good luck!
