So what now?

I just got rejected from Cornell ED engineering... didn't think theyd be this harsh
I have:
3.5 GPA
2300 SAT

Is it really pointless that I got a high SAT score since colleges seem to look at my GPA and deny me?
I was wondering what schools I could apply to where they look past my GPA (obviously cornell didnt do this).
I'm already in at Rose Hulman but defintely don't want to go there...
I'd really like to get into USC but don't know if I will cuz of my GPA

Any help regarding where to apply appreciated.

try georgia tech,WPI....by the way if u try WPI u will get money.U might wanna try university of pittsburgh, villanova, vanderbilt,Rice,Northeastern university,BU............u might wanna try unversity of maryland and delaware, all of which u have a shot at getting in and ful scholarship.

College admissions is a weird game. Students with the highest marks will get rejected from schools that they are well-qualified for. There simply isn't room for every qualified student that applies. As far as where else to go, I can't answer that question. You may have to settle for a school you don't want and then transfer later or wait and see if you get into USC. You can be successful without Cornell. There are tons of other schools out there with good engineering programs. I got accepted Cornell ED Engineering but transferred out two years later and went to another school, and still landed an excellent engineering job as a power plant engineer.

Thanks for all the help.
Ultimately what I'm thinking is that I attend a college, and then hopefully transfer for sophomore/junior year. This is because I don't really think I can get into any college that I "deserve" to get into with my GPA.

Does the prestige of the college I attend for my freshman year matter when transfering? Or is it enough to be at the top of your class in terms of GPA? I heard GPA is the most important when transfering.

Don't know why you are set against Rose-Hulman. You mention "prestige" of the college you attend freshman year and are perhaps unaware that Rose, in engineering circles, is considered to be among the top ten, if not the top five, engineering schools in the nation. As to others, you should have a very good chance at USC (not considered in that top ten that includes Rose), and could also consider GTech, Ill, Mich, Purdue, Penn St, RPI, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, Wisconsin.

Yes, try georgia tech, it's prestige engineering school.
