So, what should I do?

I'm currently enrolled in Hell College, and I'm trying to transfer.

The thing is, I have two failing grades.

The thing is, I want to transfer to Pitt, and I personally talked to the head of admissions, and they said if I did finish the application (forgot the fee) then I wouldn't have been accepted anyways, but they were very helpful as to what I should do to help get me into Pitt.

They said to just go back part time, and retake those classes. If I get at least a 3.0 in both of them, they will most likely accept me.

It's not what I wanted to hear, but it was an answer, possibly an honest one at that, that I could have a goal set to do better in order to leave.

I'm just worried though. I worked so hard to try and pass those classes last time, and I'm afraid I'll only get Cs this time, which means I'm still a prisoner to the college and I can't leave. By that point, I'll just drop out and be a stripper. I have nowhere else to go.

Any advice on what I should do at that point?

They told you exactly what you need to do to get in, thats pretty awesome. Retake those classes and you’ll get in. What else do you want?

What if they still reject me even when they told me I’d have a good chance, or what if I get B-'s? I’m trying not to let that be an option at all, but would anywhere else take me? I calculated my GPA if I got the bare minimum Pitt would want those retakes to be, it’s around 2.8, so I don’t think anywhere else would really want me either.

I’m going to assume you’re a PA resident, look at some other schools PA. Pitt is somewhat selective for PA, are there any other state schools that may fit you?

Maybe Penn State? I’m just looking for big schools. I’m stuck in a small one, and I absolutely hate it.
I also want out of PA asap, but it’s cheaper just to go to school in-state.
I should also clarify why I’m worried about this, I’m afraid my school won’t let me go part-time, plus I might not even get those classes that I desperately need to get, but I will fight for them no matter what. I just don’t know what to do if my fighting will be enough though.

Just do full time this fall, but retake those classes and take 2-3 others that you need. And sorry, I must have confused Penn State and Pitt, I think State is a bit more selective but Im sure you know better.
And school will definitely be much more expensive if you go out of state, unless that isnt an issue.

I can’t do full time, it’s too much. All I did was study for those classes, and ended up doing terribly in them because I had to focus on other easier classes that only wasted my time. And it’s not like there’s a ******** class that they offer, all of them are challenging, which is why I just need to focus on those two.

You should probably contact your current school about going part-time this semester then.

If it’s still going to be unbearable for you, why don’t you just withdraw and take your needed classes at a CC or college close to home where you can commute? That’s what I did; I hated my college, withdrew after first semester, then took night classes at the local state university. If you’re worried about that looking bad on your transcript, explain your situation in your application. Colleges understand that a bad living environment can sometimes subconsciously affect your grades (I’m not sure if this is the actual case with your situation, but it would certainly make sense since you seem incredibly unhappy where you are).

“I think State is a bit more selective but Im sure you know better.”

Pitt is actually somewhat more selective if you go by freshman admissions statistics, and Pitt also has more requirements as far as prerequisite high school courses.

E.g.:
Pitt-main SAT middle 50%: 1720-2020

PSU-main SAT middle 50%: 1630-1940

@octoberbay I can’t, because I still have those F’s on my record. The only way to get rid of them entirely is to retake the classes there, so it’s like I never even failed.

@wgmcp101 Bahah, my SAT scores were AWFUL! I got a 31 on my ACT, though, and had a 3.6 GPA in high school. They said at Pitt that my high school stuff was fine.
