Transferring

Hello all,

Im currently enrolled at a community college in Pennsylvania and completed one semester and recieved a gpa of 3.35. Two A's, two B+'s, and a C. However, the C was in a rediculous computer class. By the end of this spring semester i will have completed 31 credits total. 15 in the fall and 16 in the spring. I applied to pitt and Temple just a little bit ago for the fall of 2012 and i want to know what my chances are of getting in. i also did a reccomendation for Pitt. My high scool gpa was a 3.4 and i was in a few honors classes and involved with sports and what not. So i just wanna know what my chances are of getting in. I applied to both of them for general Studies.
Just let me know what my chances are of getting in?? Im nervous and wanna go to a 4 year school! I really want to go to these colleges!

Well it depends on what classes you took, where you went, and what you are applying for at Pitt. Although a 3.35 GPA is pretty good for college, the fact that you have two B’s and a C from a community college may not be looked well upon for Pitt, especially Pitt Main that has pretty rigorous requirements. The other thing you have to consider is that people that are transferring in from branch campuses. I think they have a slightly better opportunity to get into Main than an outsider would. Right now, I’d say your chances are 50-50, maybe less.

Ok thank you Awesomeoppossum. Do you think because i sent my application in very early, that i might have a better chance of getting in? I also emailed pitt telling them that im really excited and hopeful to attend the University. So do you think that could help at all?

The early application might help. Emailing them probably doesn’t make a difference unless it was with an essay attachment about “Why Pitt”.
