So what would this get me on the French w/ Listening?

About 7 blank and 10 wrong at the most...hopefully at the most? lol

According to the SAT II blue book, the curve is really generous. You would get something around 730-740.

(BTW, I took French w/listening this morning as well!)

Oh really? Oh yes yes yes. I hope its something like that. Thank you for answering. What did you think of the test, kathy_violin?

wait, so that's what it really says in the book? 7 blank and 10 wrong = 730ish? or is that just for 7 blank?

Nope, that's really what it says! I just don't know how they round your raw score. Your raw score would be something like 86-7-10-10/4 = 66.5, which would get you a 740 (or 730, depending on how they round it).

I actually finished the writing section in 15 minutes...but I had trouble with my CD player and almost ran out of time for the listening section! Also, I had never really taken any practice tests (I am from Quebec, so French is easy for me) so I didn't know what to expect! How about you, what did you think?

Wow, 15 minutes! Good job! I thought listening was probably the easiest...even though I left one blank for that. I just didn't want to take chances. It was either that or writing that was easier...reading was the hardest out of the three. Thank goodness your cd player kept working! One girl didn't know she had to bring a cd player, but luckily for her I had an extra one lol.

I think I underestimated the test...I should've studied at least for a few days lol. Oh well, I suppose it's not that bad of a score, the only thing that would bug me about it is (if I do end up getting that score or lower) that I could do much better. Did you take any other subject tests today?

Haha sounds like me for Math IIc. I think I underestimated it as well. I litterally prepared for 15 minutes the night before. BAD IDEA. I didn't even manage to finish the test (4 omit) and I probably have 3-6 wrong. Now I have 2 days to decide whether I cancel my scores or not... arg!

The reading passages were longer than I expected, I felt sort of rushed on those. The proctor kept walking around me during the listening section, which I kind of threw me off, but we'll see what happens.

My test supervisors were both reading throughout the test!

Oh, and 3 kids out of around 15 didn't bring a CD player in my testing center (keep in mind that I'm testing in Canada, though, so people are not very familiar with SATs).

Oh no! Well...If your gut tells you to cancel the scores, then cancel them. I'm sure you'd do just as well in french if you take them again in December.

My proctor was nice, but could she be ANY louder? She kept pushing her seat back and forth, fidgeting with things on her desk, agh! I agree with you, knightshield, that they were longer than expected. And a bit more complicated then expected as well. I had trouble staying focused at first but I got better towards the end. I had enough time to go back and check through about half of my answers.

*edit: eh, i forgot that listening is only offered in november. =/ it's up to you: which subject do you think would enhance your college app? i'm thinking that if you're a native french speaker, an 800 wouldn't be all too impressive (although it was a good score)...but a high math score would be. just my opinion. it also depends what you plan to pursue in college.
