^ my friend who is Arab said that arabs dont count toward URM, they are just considered white, i dont know why though

what about if my parents are from africa and like grandpartents and all from africa... but im not technically african american you know. like not of that ethnicity... so i left ethnicity blank on common app. would they still consider me a URM.

^^ and im not south african. parents from uganda... east africa.

well if you left ethnicity blank (i did too) then they don't have any idea what your ethnicity is so they can't possibly consider you as a URM.

well i mean it asks for parents birthplace... so they should have some indication from that since both my parents are from there. but also... dont they do any type of background check on you?

middle eastern people are considered white

do you think spanish is a ethnicity?

hispanic ya

Well my parents were born in Sudan so I put myself down as African American (technicalities are awesome!!!)

lol ya i think i should have done that. but i mean i am not african american... anyone that looks at me can see that... and i thought if I put african american they would look at a picture of me and be like this kid isnt african american and like automatically reject me or something.
