So when does the writing portion count?

<p>Most colleges are only looking at the Critical Reading and Math scores...so when does the Writing part gets acknowledged?!</p>

<p>When it stops being so innacurate and gay.</p>

<p>I pulled a 560 (5/12) the first time I took it then got a 740 (12/12) the next time w/o prep, but I was kinda sick the first time. Basically, the huge discrepancy makes it a terrible indicator of skill; also, the writing is too formulaic.</p>

<p>i do really good on the writing and horrible on the reading...it should count toward something!</p>

<p>Some colleges say they aren't considering it...but to be honest, this is the way I'm looking at it:</p>

<p>It might not hurt you, but it's something that can only help you.</p>

<p>That's sort of how I see the SAT IIs also, but I guess I'm just weird.</p>

<p>writing section is bull feces. I got a 600 my first time with an 8 essay. I'm a horrible writer, and this was easily one of the WORST essays i've ever written and I did very well. Second time i was more prepared and even cited a recent news article, upped the vocab yet I got a 570 with a 6 essay and two more points in mult. choice. Makes no sense. This was a 650 or so essay and I got a 570. What a joke!</p>

<p>first of all, an 8 essay is only slightly above average, even for non-cc people
and second of all, uh, you just overestimated your own writing abilities there
finally, the writing portion is adapted from the sat ii: writing test, which has been required by many top colleges for years along with a math sat ii</p>

<p>uhh i know uhhh i'm a horrible writer. I said I didnt deserve the 600. The second time was a much more thoroughly written essay with nearly all the components to a 650 or so essay and I do 30 points worse? I dont think so chief.</p>

<p>It's used the same way the writing SAT II used to be used, before it was removed. All that's different is now you're required to take it.</p>
