So where is everyone going in the Fall?

I'm going to University of Toronto School of Music for Music Ed/Piano. So excited for the fall!!!!

musicann: The feeling is mutual. This has been quite a whirlwind of a year.

I'll be attending St. Olaf College, planning to major in piano performance and mathematics.

Rice University for Double Bass performance.

I haven't found anyone else going to Rice for music this year, yet. Anyone out there?

My daughter will be attending Otterbein College in Westerville, OH; BA Music (vocal performance) and probably a double minor in broadcasting (media production) and arts administration.

pcannon,

I just saw your reply #23 as a result of mezzomom bumping this thread. Congratulations on Rice. Ellison and Pitts make their bass faculty among the best anywhere.

Daughter is currently in Italy playing in the orchestra for a couple of operas then will be going to a Klezmer camp near Montreal in August. After that, she will return for her second year at Oberlin on Double Bass. She is once again waffling between Math and Physics for her other major.

pcannon - congratulations on Rice! My roommate next year is also a bassist who auditioned for Rice this year - Derek Zadinsky, do you know him?

I will be attending the USC Thornton School of Music in Clarinet Performance.

Yeah, I know Derek. We have the same teacher up in Seattle, and we used to both play in the Seattle Youth Symphony. I presume you go to Curtis?

cool! Yeah, I will next year. Congratulations again on Rice

This is a bit late, But I'll be attending UCLA in the fall as a Piano Performance Major. I'll be studying with Walter Ponce, but I'm going for a completely different reason. The key reason that I am going there is so that I can study with the best teacher I have ever met, Mark Richman. Seriously, my friends think I'm crazy for turning down Eastman and New England for this guy, but I honestly think that I'd learn more from him than any other person. Hopefully I was right. ;)

Is Mark Richman on the faculty at UCLA? They only list two piano professors...

i couldn't help but comment... but music parents are so funny. i guess i'll never quite understand until i have kids of my own. :p

I will be attending Indiana for a BM in Oboe Performance.

mamenyu, Mark used to be on the faculty, but not anymore. He lives like five minutes away, so I'll be studying with him on the side, paying out of my own pocket. lol

SUNY Fredonia to study Music Composition and Sound Recording Technology. I just got back from orientation and it totally killed any fears I had about turning down some of the bigger Schools of Music! It's going to be amazing!
