aha! I bet you they're sending out international stuff early since it takes mail longer to get out of the country. That makes me feel better. Has any US student heard yet?

Yeah, it does seem that the people who got emails were international..I bet US students will get snail mail in the next couple weeks.

Those who have been notified-- did you get a letter or an e-mail?

received a letter

I received an email, and it said

"An official letter of decision will be mailed in the next day or two but we wanted you to know our decision without delay."

HAHAHAHA, in this case, I would have preferred "delay".

lol trangham ... i guess you didnt get in huh? =(

I believe ive been rejected since I havent heard anything from admissions except for this ambiguous email:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Weve been thinking about you recently as we consider your application. Whether you are from New York, California, or somewhere in between, you have something unique to bring to the Oberlin community.
You are part of a remarkably talented group of applicants this year, so our job is both exciting and challenging. Whatever the outcome, we are appreciative of the opportunity we have had to get to know you better. Thank you for considering Oberlin College.
Decision letters will be mailed in late March. We encourage you to stay in touch with us by
phone (800-622-6243) or by email.
Best wishes,
The Admissions Team
Sounds like a canned Pre-rejection letter to me, what do u think? XD
I guess it may be URochester for me afterall - but hey I got a full ride there so it wont be so bad
Awakien, I'm pretty sure everybody gets that email. I got it too.
Yeah pretty sure that was an everyone email.
Everyone definitely got that.
not me ;( for some reason I am not even sure if they got my app ;(
Now that you mention it, I never got confirmation of my application either! Oh well, let's hope they got everything.
thats such a weird letter! why on earth would they send that!!
yeah, I got that email too... don't know what to think of it.
My D got that letter, too. I think it is just Oberlin's way of keeping applicant interest high without resorting to sending likely letters. There are a lot of other schools with rolling admissions or at least earlier admissions decisions thatn Oberlin. Some of those schools pull out all of the stops to get admitees to commit, including saying stuff like "While you have until May 1 to decide and all students are guaranteed on campus housing, the first to enroll get to choose first."
My point in the above post (which I admit was not crystal clear) is that the e-mail was designed to remind applicants to wait to hear from Oberlin before enrolling somewhere else. The slightly negative words, "no matter what the outcome" is probably to avoid creating false hopes.
I spoke with Kris, Assistant Director of Admissions at Oberlin yesterday, and she told me they are hoping to send out letters (acceptance and rejection) on Thursday. She said all letters go out then. I didn't think to ask about emails. Hang in there, everybody!
Did people get application received confirmation letters / postcards / emails from Oberlin?
I didn't get anything like that...makes me worried...
And now people are getting admissions decision info...eek.
I just got a phone call and an email today!!!! I am in!
Congrats, squiggle!
I didn't get any of those confirmation letters, postcards, e-mails ;( What is WRONG with my e-mail account!?
