Advice about the UGA Admission Process: 2012 Admitted Freshman Statistics

I wonder if students are tending to apply to more universities. It seems to be a common theme this year among universities that their admitted rates are lower this year than last year.

Anyway, DS got waitlisted by UGA but got into Emory, Tulane, and University of Maryland - go figure!

Those are great choices, don’t fret. Maryland has a big inside track on public and private sector jobs in the DC area ( I live nearby), Emory speaks for itself, Tulane as well.

It’s possible. Both Georgia Tech and Georgia saw a considerable increase(3k+) in undergraduate applications this year. I can’t comment on a national level, but I think Class of 2013 HS graduates were simply much larger than past classes. Again, this is pure speculation. Both UGA and Georgia Tech have seen a steady, consistant increase in applications and admissions profiles.

However, other smaller schools in Georgia seem to fair about the same(GSU, KSU, GA Southern etc)

I’m not sure how private schools like Emory did. Regardless, it’s quality, not quantity. UGA accepted the same number of students as years before, there were simply more applicants this year.

Snowflake, those are all top choices. Congratulations!
