SO whos coming to richmond

hey guys! my name is kelly, im defenatly going to richmond this fall...hope to see u! anyone going to the accepted students open house?

I am!!!
UR is really pretty. I've spent a bit of time on campus. One summer I stayed at the school for a program for about a month. I hadn't gone back to look at the school until a couple of weeks ago. The students seemed very friendly. It's going to be a tough call UR, W&L, GW....

Well it looks like I won't be going to UR. It is a GREAT school and I am sure you all will have a good time there. My parents have convinced me (even my dad who is a UR alum) to go to UVA. Enjoy.

Sorry you wont be at Richmond. What made you choose UVA over UR?

Dont get lost at UVA - their freshman class is bigger than the entire UR student body!

I chose UVA over UR mainly due to cost. Also, there are more opportunites for me at UVA. I'm lucky to have gotten in UVA (I had the stats and everything), so I feel I should take advantage of it. Also, I want to start a figure skating club at UVA and hopefully later a team (club sport). Since the student body at UVA is much bigger than UR, there will be a much greater probability of finding enough qualified skaters to form a team vs. UR.

UR is a wonderful school and I definitely would have gone there if I had not gotten in UVA.

i hope ill be able to go to ur, it is my top choice, but it is super expensive. according to whatever calculations they do my family is supposed to be able to pay for the whole tuition, but in reality i think my parents would have to take out lots of loans. we tried calling the financial aid people to see if they could give any merit based money to me, but they said the only merit based money they give is to the 50 richmond scholars... weird.

hi ... wasuup
i read u got into w&l and ur 2...did u get any aid?????
i also got in but no aid :-(
laterzz

hi everyone, I got into Richmond and I was wondering if anyone else here is an international student. I'll go to Richmond for Open House on April 22, so see you there!

Anyone else send in their deposit yet??

I've got a toss up between UR and Villanova. Their open house is this weekend also so I'm going to check it out and make my "final decision".

I'm going to open house on the 22, too aw04lfan. Where are you from? I'm choosing between UR and NYU.

Hey FullThrottle, where are you from? I'm choosing between UR and Villanova too. I will be paying my deposit soon for either one. Have you made your decision yet?

hey ampirz007.. ive gotten in with no aid too.. :-( isnt there somehting we can do?

VZ, tough choice between UR and VU. I believe VU has more opportunities in science and larger student body, but I liked the feel of UR and they seem to provide more personilzed attention in class. Tough call. Will go to the VU open Saturday.

P.S. Saw from one of your previous posts that you also applied to Bryant. That's weird - while on a tour of New England schools, we stopped in at Bryant. They practically offered a scholarship on the spot and sent out mailings every couple of days. The campus is new (Brown bought out all their facilities in downtown Providence) , the girls ALL blond and blue eyed - overall a positive experience! They only offer bus/marketing and comp sci, though so it wasn't for me.

I'm coming to Richmond; it's official.

For me, I fell in love with Richmond when I first visited, but didn't think my family could afford the big price tag. Applied anyway and got a great deal; sorry to hear about others that didn't get any aid. That happened to me at other schools, too.

For me it came down to Sewanee vs. Hampden-Sydney vs. Richmond. St. Mary's (MD) got kicked the instant I got their aid report. Wow, terrible deal, no thanks. Richmond is a bit more broad academically. I'm interested in languages and some of their international studies sort of things.

It worked out so well for me, though. Richmond's probably the best school for me and my family can actually swing it, but barely.

I just paid my deposit for UR last week =)

Took another trip down I95 this weekend for a last minute look at UR and... gave them my deposit!! They couldn't take a credit card, so used the computer in the admissions office to do it on-line.

Villanova wouldn't budge on fin aid and I liked the constantly improving campus at UR - refurbed science center just opened, cafe will be newly renovated by fall, rec center and new dorm construction underway.

The low 9-1 teacher/student ratio is impressive also. All the profs know the students. The classes will be challenging but at least you can enjoy the surroundings and weather. Glad I didn't end up at Rochester!!

B10Cycle,

Did you chose HSC?

No, I chose Richmond, like I said.

I liked a lot of things about HSC, but I think Richmond is just a better fit for me.
