SO whos coming to richmond

I see the UR board got quite after april 1st. So whos deciding to come to richmond. personally i think richmond may be the college for me.

maden10:

I'm still trying to decide!

still waiting for the finaid package! they emailed me and said they mailed it.. so it shouldn't be too much longer.

worldshopper good luck with your decision between uva and ur, personally if uva gave me a chance i would have attended. however i'm feeling good about this school, it sounds excitin from what i've read and heard from other students. I think i'd fit it in pretty well. Anyways, i hope you guys make good choices in the end. Leah i hope ur financial aid is more then sufficient. good luck.

did any of you get that email from ur about the summer science research opportunity. it sounds amazing, hope i make it into the program.

im going for sure, see you guys at the open house april 22.

See you all on the 22nd

Seriously considering it. Just picked UR based on the College Board stats and got in, but I'm amazed how many folks up here have heard of/visited/attended.
A friend of my father even had a brother who got kicked out about 30 years ago (caught too many times in the girls dorm :-O !!)

Everyone has good things to say about the school. And with the current upgrades to the curriculum and campus it should be even better in four years - when the school's reputation really counts!
I'm going to visit during my spring break, week 4/10.

Also got a letter yesterday from the Law school dean about the law honors program for students with 1350+ SAT. Keep a 3.5GPA and get admission to their law program.

I got accepted and have never seen the school. I'm going to visit next week and am so excited! I think this is probably where i'll go!

ryanmary,

Will you be visiting UR on Wed? Maybe I'll see you there!

actually i'm coming on friday! that'd be fun to meet someone! have fun on your visit. i really hope i like it

hey if u guys are visiting so early, do u mind posting about what you saw that you didnt like or liked. i'm still going to visit but some feedback from you guys wouldn't go to waste. thnx

No problem, I'll make notes and take some pix!

Until then, check out how some students rated the school compared to others at:

c0llegepr0wler.com

(Had to use '0' instead of 'o' - this site limits references to the competition??!! another conspiracy - The Man is keeping us down again!

I am leaning towards UR but my mom is getting upset about it. My dad won't help out with college expenses (no matter where I go) and he is a UR alum. She says it is bad enough he won't help out with college costs and then for me to go to HIS school on top of it, is a slap in the face. She will of course, pay for UVA but I'd rather go to UR. She says, regardless of the issue with my dad, I'm making the wrong decision going to UR over UVA.

I'll be at the open house on the 22nd but without either one of my parents.

i finallly got my financial aid letter. it isn't looking too good. i got 19,000 in grants and student loans. unfortunately that still leaves 23,415 for my parents to contribute. :-( that doesn't even meet my EFC which is 20,022. So i guess that is good bye richmond!!

Leah,

Try contacting the fin aid office and plead your case. UR claims to make your education affordable. And I quote:

"Financial aid at Richmond comes in many forms and from numerous sources, but it all adds up to one thing for you—an outstanding education that’s affordable. Through scholarships, grants, loans and other resources, over 65 percent of Richmond undergraduate students receive some type of financial aid.

We make Richmond affordable because we don’t want you to miss out on the education you deserve. Let us show you how."

does anyone know if freshman are allowed to have cars at richmond?

yea... I think i'm going to try. My concern is that they may have recalculated my EFC based on their institiutional formula, then decided that my parents could contribute the 23,000. If that is the case, then technically they are meeting 100% of my "demonstrated" need. Ofcourse the demonstrated need is far from my "actual" need. l0l

I hear you, and 'feel your pain'! But, UR seems to be a bit more generous than a lot of other schools.

Spinner,

There is a UR on-line chat tonight at 7. Good time to ask such a question!!

On-line chat was good, now i really cant wait to visit. everything sounded amazing, and yea freshmen are allowed to have cars. cya yall later.
