Submitting a resume: is it done online? How? Is this really obvious?

For the school-specific supplements, do we have to fill out all of the personal info that's already on the common app?

Teacher recs: will a couple of blanket recs do for most schools?

I know these answers are probably right under my nose, but I just wanted to check; thanks :P

You can put the resume in the Additional Info section.
You have to fill out whatever they ask for. Most won't ask for a lot of repetitious information, but if they do, particularly if they're not submitted together, you just fill it out again.
Most teachers write only 1 rec and copy it for each school. And that's fine.

So the teachers do the work for copying recs? They don't just write one and hand it to you/your counselor and let them handle that?
(Speaking of which...do we ever get to see the recs they write?)

I did not submit a resume with my app., so I don't know how it's done.

Yes, you have to fill out the entire supplement.

As Chedva already said, teachers typically write one rec. and that's the one that gets sent. And they should take care of copying, etc. I gave my teachers stamped, addressed envelopes, and they did the rec's, put them in the envelopes, and sent them themselves. I didn't even touch them. Most people in my school did not (or should not) see their rec's, but from what I've seen on CC, some people see them and some don't. I feel weird looking at stuff that praises me, so, I'm kind of glad that I had teachers I could trust to write wonderful rec's for me. I was never anxious about them at all.

You can send the resume through mail if you're planning to submit a paper application. If you're doing your apps online, some schools will allow you to attach your resume as a pdf file. For teacher recs, my teachers wrote one and copied it for each school I was applying to. They then gave all those copies to my guidance counselor so the teacher/counselor recs and school reports could be sent out in one batch.

There's a question on recommendation form asking you if you waive your rights to see the contents of the recommendation. You can check either yes or no.

The closest you can get to submitting a resume online is to use the Additional Information box, which I believe is towards the end of the application. I used that space to expand on my EC's beyond the one line you get in the chart and to mention a couple things that didn't fit elsewhere (self-studying for a couple AP tests, explaining a scheduling conflict that forced me to drop one major activity my senior year). To be honest, I don't think it's a good idea to get too much more involved than that. If they wanted a 5 page resume, they would have asked for it.

You can apply online with Common App, being certain that you fill out the schools' supplements. When you go to each school's application site, it will guide you to the proper supplements, or the common app site will have the schools that require supplements. Follow all of the links! After you have applied online, you will let your guidance counselor know to which schools you have applied, and they will probably snail mail their own packet, or help you put this packet together, including in it your teachers' recommendations (consider waiving your rights to see them-- it shows good faith!), your school transcript, and whatever else might need to be included (art supplement, whatever). Your teachers' recs will be the same for each school. They know to make them specific to you, yet general enough that they can sned them to all of your schools.

At least one school we've visited specifically warned against attaching a resume vs filling out the activities/awards/etc page[s] of their form. The admissions officer said that it was all too common that items referenced by "See Attached" became detached and lost as they processed the apps.

The only thing I found that comes close to "uploading" into the additional info box is cutting and pasting. It's possible I missed something, but I'm pretty sure I didn't

How do you upload the essay? Also on the application fee, there are schools that the application is free online and there are schools that you have to pay, what box(s) do you have to check to satisfy both, I mean without having to resubmit twice. It's very confusing!!
