so why don't pepperdine prospectives post on this site?

sure is hard to get info cause no one seems to know about this site from out there!

You're right - there have been very few posts for this university. It is somewhat disappointing to not learn more about PU from CC, but I guess most of the interest seems to be with the top 25 schools.

My daughter is expecting a decision from them soon, so I'm sure she will be using the resources of this site for more information if she's accepted to Pepperdine (and any other univerisities she has applied to). If she is accepted, we would plan on attending the reception on 4/8 in Malibu to start the process.

I hope I get accepted to their school also besides i heard they have such a sweet international business major and their study abroad program is really cool!

the Pepperdine campus is really nice, but I guess that is whats expected out of a 180 degree ocean view....

I've been accepted @ the Pepperdine for the 2006 Fall MBA program. I'm an international student from Greece.

However, I just received a few negative comments on the university, saying that the education level is questionable and that the program is a buy-a-degree type. Hope that doesn't stand, but it certainly scared me.

I will know in a few months, as I'm gonna be there by 90%.

I don't think a college ranked #55 by US News is a "buy-a-degree" type of institution. That kind of comment usually comes from a student at a nearby university who obviously thinks too highly of himself.

You will hear ridiculous (negative) comments about any university, on this forum or anywhere else for that matter. You just need to determne if it offers what you are looking for, at the price you (and/or your parents) are willing to pay.

In any event, congratulations on your acceptance!

Thank you very much, good luck with your daughter's applications :)

Just to add a few more details.

I don't have any personal experience with Pepperdine, but I did a research and contacted a few alumni. The feedback revealed that pepperdine offers a great campus life, a wonderful campus location, great teachers etc, but the program seems to be a little loose. I was given the impression that they are deliberately trying to keep the "effort level" relatively low, in order to attract wealthy students that can afford the fees but cannot attend harder schools.

The fact that I was accepted very easily without even an interview, kinda surprised me.

Personally, that doesn't really bother me cause it means that I am going to have more leisure time to do more stuff (as the whole studying abroad thing for me is an over-all experience), so I was really looking for a not-that-tough school. But I think that for people that are looking for a school that will provide them with the best possible knowledge/teaching, Pepperdine might not be equal to its reputation...

Most of that information was gathered from alums of Pepperdine or people living close to the university. But it could be not totally true. You make your own conclusions.

Aris

When do you all think we will hear from Pepperdine. I'm so worried, I have borderline stats (according to most cc'ers) and Pepperdine is now my #1 choice after Washu didnt work out!

I would assume that decisions will be mailed around the end of March, wirh Award Notifications mailed within a couple of weeks of that date.

Does Pepperdine, as a very religous school, value a lot of community service work? Work either through one's church or Boy Scouts for example?

TTear
Sadly, their efforts aren't as low anymore to attract alot of wealthy students. From what I've heard over 8000 applicants applied to fufill 2100 spots which really worries me. They're now looking to bump up their ranks on US News and are expecting more students with high GPA and SAT scores.

any hope that 3.7 and a 1930 could make it?

I guess my 650 GMAT score played a role. Also, it seems that they're after international students a lot, or at least that's what the 35% of such students indicates.

stlrams2006 you have a chance now how about your essays to set you apart ; D personally my GPA is great but my SAT scores suffer so I'm counting on my essays to pull me through and my ACT scores were mediocore which was a 21.

I really felt my essays were a strength of my application for Pepperdine. I spent a lot of time on my personal statement. I'm not extrememly religous, but I did a good job in sounding spiritual and active in the community. Do the essays hold a lot of value in Pepperdine's decision?

USC girl, did you show your sat and/or your act?

I showed both, and the essays use to hold a lot of value in Pepperdine's decision but from what I've heard your sat scores and GPA holds alot more value now.

After getting rejected from my top choice, I've got my heart set on Pepperdine. My stats are 3.85 GPA/ 2170 SAT. I really hope I get in...

lil153 you might have a chance with those nice statistics but I hope you get into. Oh heck i hope i get in too you know what though in the end if you think about it this whole college admissions thing is kind of sick!! Working so hard for four long tiring years in high school just to put it on 4 pieces of paper to be judged by people that'll have an effect on the rest of your life!! That is sick, twisted, and unfair but that's life well good luck everyone!!

Ok so I'm rather new to this forum, but still was surprised at how little information there is on this school out there. Anyway, thanks to all that posted information - helps a lot.

I just received my acceptance letter from Pepperdine today, and I had just about forgotten about it since I applied last october and hadn't heard anything since! Seems as if the rumor that they take their sweet time is absolutely true. My stats aren't spectacular (1840 SAT and 28 ACT w/ 3.8 GPA) but I had really good recommendations and activities, and I think the fact that I am half minority and have a Hispanic surname (Cantu) might have helped.

From what I gather it is quite the rich person's school, but has enough diversity and offers enough financial aid to attract those from other backgrounds, including myself - I'm far from rich.
