So you can opt out of the National College Match?

If you decide not to do it after you become a finalist?

Yes 10chars

I’m considering opting out. I am only going to apply to Princeton, Stanford, Yale and MIT through QB, and apparently

1) They offer the same packages regardless of QB.
2) They mostly use QB to admit URM applicants-- if you are not URM your chances of being admitted through QB may be lower than for other early programs (confirm?)

Undecided at present. Even if I don’t end up doing it, I’m glad for Questbridge because it got me off to an early start and meant that mine was the first rec my recommenders wrote.

^ Ditto on the first recommendation letter

For your second point, I’ve heard that someone was mistaken as an ED applicant to Columbia and was accepted with generous FA, but when they found out that he applied via QB they revoked the admission offer. That’s just one anecdote though. Can’t speak for all the schools.

^lol, that’s a little depressing.

To clarify-- even if we rank some colleges now, we can STILL opt out after Oct 22? Or is the only time to opt out now?

^ I have the same question. I already “ranked” colleges, but have not turned in the Match Agreement Form. Now I have decided to pull out of the National College Match.

@You can opt out after Oct. 22nd. YOu just need to send them an email
