So You Think You Can Chance? Stanford!

It’s all solid, but why is everyone saying that Cornell is a match while UPenn, Stanford, and other top schools are low reaches? Is there something I’m missing?

At Pitt, you’re among those that have reportedly received full tuition. You’d be a candidate to apply for Chancellor’s awards that would be a full ride (they’re highly competitive and prestigous and include additional room & board type of things in addition to tuition), but those depend on additional factors like interviews.

Thanks for the valuable information about Pitt!

I just won a student of the month honor for the local Rotary Club, worth it to place on Common App? (I already filled the academic honors slots, so I’d switch this in over NMSF or the like)

I think you have a great chance!
i’d just send your ACT score. Your EC definitely shows your leadership while you maintained academic success.
I would say pretty solid chances for all of them. The only thing is that you’re an Asian Male.
Stanford might be hard quite frankly.

are people putting National Merit Semifinalist as an academic honor? or is it not worth it to take up that awards spot.

Hey a fellow shotter, whats your distance :p

haha sweet! Not very good, 35ft flat is my best. I’ve been having trouble with the glide because I fractured my vertebrae during football season. What technique do you use?

Bump bump bump it up

You have really good stats, but like other people said, admissions at Stanford is really unpredictable. Last year, this guy at my school was valedictorian, student body president, had a 2400 SAT, and played three varsity sports, and he got rejected from Stanford. Still, I think you have as good a chance as anybody applying!

IMO…

Stanford (EA) - low/mid reach ish
Upenn - low/mid reach ish
Duke - reach/match
U Michigan - in
Cornell - match
Vanderbilt - like the guy above, no idea
UCLA - match
Pitt Honors (scholarship) - prob in

Also, I’m am…was the mike linebacker (scaphoid injury)

Can someone chance me for a full ride to Pitt Honors?

Stay classy

I’d say penn is your best bet.

chance me back

University of Chicago Early Admission Chance

Based on reports on this site, I’d say a full tuition award at Pitt is likely. Nothing is guaranteed, but you fall within the range of others’ who have received these in recent years. How the school views their geographical recruiting needs and how their class is filling up could impact that. You might also be invited to apply for the Chancellor’s Scholarship, which is a full ride and possibly other benefits, but based on an interview and other criteria. Just being invited to apply is being at the top of the top, so it is hard to say for sure. I’d say at least full tuition is a decent bet though. Apply as soon as possible and show interest.

I just submitted my Stanford app, so one last bump please!

Just got the full tuition scholarship to Pitt Honors, but can I still get a chance for Stanford EA?

Rejected EA from Stanford…
Any chances for my other schools?

Solid scores, but don’t be surprised if you aren’t accepted to Stanford. They are particularly random with acceptances over there. A kid universally in my grade known as the smartest kid in the school got a 36 on the ACT, a 4.8 weighted, 4.0 unweighted and his extracurriculars were insane. Eagle scout, drumline captain, varsity swimming, list goes on and on. He was rejected. 3 other kids, of less intellectual promise ( yet still impressive of course) were accepted. Two had legacy and one was indian, which is what we think gave them an edge. My main point, Stanford is random, so it’s hard to “chance” that really.

My final list of schools that I applied to by the way are:
Yale
Duke
Penn
Cornell
Northwestern
Michigan
UNC
Vandy
Georgetown
Pitt-full tuition
Stanford- rejected

I love your title. What a great show. <33

Anyways, I think you have a strong shot at all of them, except a couple.

Yale: Unlikely
UPenn: High Reach
Duke: Mid Reach
Cornell: Low Reach
Northwestern: Match
Georgetown/Michigan/Vander/UNC: Ch’yeah.
