Which schools did you future Cal undergrads turn down? for how many of you was cal your dream school or at least top choice school? how many of you are from california? please complete the following survey, your participation is greatly appreciated :)

Well, one of my cousins turned down Cornell for Berkeley EECS. (no regret here)
My sister turned down JHU BME for Berkeley BioE. (regret a little because her friend went to JHU BME and got into a med school. according to her, he's weaker academically when they were in high school)
All are CA resident. It made a lot of sense for them because Berkeley is very close by, and was very cheap (less than 4k tuition/year cheap)

you guys, especially jmilton90 and somewhat whatever1989 do not deserve to go to Cal if you so openly undermine its value...
yes, i did turn down those schools...you know what, you people will def. say after looking at my resume that i am "overqualified" for Cal (siemens finalist, intel finalist etc etc) but you know what? i think im a perfect fit...
someday you will learn to value a great school like Cal, especially since you went to it....wow guys, go get some school spirit...

GO BEARS

sometimes just because you get something you undervalue it...and when you dont get something you hold it on a pedestal...learn to appreciate what you have.
and by the way, i was offered scholarships (woodrow wilson) from JHU....and by the way, i know at least 4 other kids personally who turned down Stanford for being a Bear. who the hell says "Judging the education as a grad student here, and the quality of the undergrad here is definitely not on par with Stanford." (jmilton90)???? especially which Cal Golden Bear would say such an idiotic thing? jmilton90 you need to learn some school spirit

edit #3: and before you guys start cooking up reasons why i didnt go to those private schools, money was not a problem, neither was distance, etc ,etc....it was solely based on education, school environment, etc, etc...btw...im MCB, pre-med

edit #4: "sounds pretty bogus" is that what you said jmilton90???? what the hell is "bogus" about this? why? is this not supposed to happen in your world? should ppl flock to Stanford if they get in? wow dude...maybe in college apps they should ask about school spirit so they can weed out ppl like you

^^^^Sweeet Santabanta, a school is much more than just a trophy, its about what school will mold YOU the best for life. Hey maybe we might have a class next year!

what? i never said i would be overqualified. i said these two guys above me, now actually incuding you, would immediately assume that...i think im just the perfect fit...and what? you didnt apply to more than one school? so whats wrong about it if i did? i also wanted to have options? what kind of question is that? why do you guys even go to Cal?

edit: im so utterly disgusted and sickened by the responses of Cal students to my decision to attend Cal. This is so disappointing to see how bitter/jealous/whatever students are....why dont you get some school spirit and love the school you go to?

thanks DukeBlueDevils (ironic name indeed...lol)...but im still so disappointed at the general atmosphere of this thread...hope to see you and all the other PROUD golden bears on campus...
see you this fall too Shah Rukh!!!

"overenthusiastic" lol...maybe...but at least not as discouraging, bitter, and perhaps even envious as some others on this thread...
go bearsssss

@santabanta
lol, i'm just a die-hard duke basketball fan...except now i'm hoping cal will be good enough this year to make it to the ncaa tourney. looks like mike montgomery came to his senses and left stanford to coach at cal. hopefully he'll turn the cal basketball program around and we'll start winning!

US News induced inferior complex within the Cal student body is sickening. Talk about self-flagellating.
santabanta, I applaud your decision. Go Bears!
