So i have a D in AP Gov. All my other classes are passing this year, but not ap gov. We just found out eraly this year that my grandfaher is diagnosed with cancer of the lung and lipnoyds. He could die with in a year or within the next 5 years. So, do I ask my GC to write a letter explaining the bad grade?

You got fantastic advice from the parents forum already. Follow their advice.

I just re-read this post. At first I thought that you were struggling in general due to your grandfather's illness. If you are only failing one class, though, how is that related to your grandfather? If it is not related, which it doesn't seem to be since your other grades remain high, do not use your grandfather as an excuse. Why would you be able to keep up with all of your classes except one? I don't understand.

Are you struggling with this class because of your gradfather? If so, then why not your other classes?

I agree. If you screwed up in everything, it might almost be better, not that I'm advocating you do that. Is AP Govt your only AP? Your only tough class? Your only class, period? Why AP Govt and nothing else?

And I'd write to them yourself, honestly.
