SOAR 2018

I haven’t heard back either

So far there is only one report on this threads of a SOAR acceptance. Check your junk and spam folders in case the email didn’t go to your inbox. Maybe they are releasing decisions in waves.

Got in as well! I do believe they come in waves

Has anyone heard anything else yet? Still waiting for a word from Rice…

Unfortunately no. Really hoping to get it out of the way.

^

I feel like someone should contact them. See if they’re releasing in waves or not.

They’re definitely releasing in waves–they only said that they’d notify /by/ September 7th, and some people have hear from Rice and some haven’t. I wouldn’t worry.

Any idea what time the results came out last time?

Has anyone else heard anything? I’m getting kind of antsy, haha

Me too!! I’ve been checking me email every time it dings hoping it’s something from rice. Does anyone know how they’re sending out in waves? Based off of area code or when we sent it in maybe?

My daughter got in, she got her acceptance last Friday night at 6:00 pm

@alexdy01 probably not area code bc my friend got an email but I didnt. I’m assuming it’s the date we sent it in bc i sent it the day before and he sent it pretty early.

I’m almost completely certain that they’re releasing acceptances every Friday since last Friday. Three people have confirmed acceptances from last Friday. The SOAR website from Rice mentioned a notice by September 7th, which also happens to be next Friday. I’ll be checking in tomorrow…

Has anyone received anything today?

@ChristieOS I haven’t which makes this kinda irritating. I applied literally over a month ago, would it be so hard to just reject me already?

@nomoreinterviews I understand how you feel. Hopefully they send out emails later tonight or early next week.

@ChristieOS yeah at this point they’ll mostly send it out next Friday. Not a fan but what can I do.

I got my acceptance email too last week and the deadline to RSVP was yesterday…so I think they were waiting to see how many ppl from the first round of acceptances were able to go before sending out a second round, which will probably start Monday

Also, I think—unlike other fly-ins—S O A R might be based on funds rather than a quota of participants (i.e. number of participants is dependent on how expensive the plane ticket is for each student, so a participant from Seattle might take up more funds than two participants from Texas)
