Thanks for the hope lol. Where I’m from tickets to Houston aren’t so expensive.
Does living in Houston make you ineligible for SOAR?
I don’t think so, if you live in the Greater Houston area…during the travel registration, R I C E alluded to the fact that ppl from the Greater Houston area were accepted and would be reimbursed for the drive to R I C E, but I don’t know if they accept anyone from Houston proper
But again, it’s on a case by case level; if an applicant from Houston proper comes from a very unique circumstance that doesn’t afford them the opportunity to visit R I C E, I think admissions would take that into consideration
Anyone else received an acceptance email or any email from Rice about SOAR since the first Friday they were released?
Suuuuuuuper stoked for SAT scores and SOAR decisions to come out on the same day…
And UPenn too. What a fun day.
Has anybody accepted to SOAR already been contacted with flight arrangements/information?
No, not yet
All decisions are supposed to come out today!!! Did anyone get an email from Rice yet?
No not yet Ha, seeing my SAT score already has me feeling a little low. Oh well.
I just got an email from them. They awarded all their funds Anyone remember when they applied? I feel like they chose the people based on when applications were sent in
I applied like the first week of July! Yet, I haven’t even received an email from them today. What time was it in your area when you got yours, @rickychen112 ?
@jaffy25 it was around 5:10
Has anyone else just not received anything yet? )):
Hi! I was accepted into SOAR n I was wondering if anyone knew how many people got in because I received an email saying how many applied. Also, anybody going to the JFK airport? I really don’t wanna be alone!
Hey latepete! I got the same email. Last year, roughly 1670 applied and about 150 attended…I’m sure they’ll tell us more about the stats once we’re at Rice. Overall though, I’m pretty sure the acceptance rate stayed around 9%
Wow! I feel so grateful and slightly undeserving but that’s besides the point…where are you from? Also, have you applied to any other fly-ins? @“Vergilius.Maro”
My son got the email that all of their funds had been awarded, but he applied at the very last minute, it actually might have been past midnight so technically the next day. Disappointing but not really surprising, wish we had found out about it in time to apply sooner.
For those that attended SOAR, I hope Rice rolled out the red carpet for you and that you had a great time at the program.
