SOAR housing option

I was just checking on the SOAR site on the main Cal Poly web site and found out that you can stay in Poly Canyon during Soar. The students and one parent can stay for 52.50 per person/ night and you will have another parent/student sharing the apartment or you can stay in the whole apartment on your own for $155 per night and have more family members come. That might be a good alternative to a hotel/motel for parents who don’t want to drive down and then back on the same day. the whole apartment seems pricey, but the shared one isn’t too bad.

Just search SOAR on the main CP site and you will find the brochure. It could be a fun way to see what Poly Canyon is like and have time with your student. If a parent isn’t going to attend with their student, this would be a great way for your child to be safe and attend SOAR for a good price.

Keep watching for the SOAR registration e-mail. I think after you get a date for SOAR, you can then register for the Poly Canyon program. There was an interest form you could do to be placed on a list as well.

My son and I will be going to SOAR. It is another way to learn about CP and to enjoy the campus and excitement of starting at CP!

^ Thanks, momofmv. I noticed this the other day and thought it was a nice option, especially for students coming alone.

My husband will coming with us this time so we’ll probably just be doing a day trip. I’m still not sure of the actual hours of SOAR, though. How early does it start in the morning and when does it end? Is it a drop-in sort of event or do we need to be there at a specific time? I hope it doesn’t start TOO early in the morning, or we might have to stay the night before. ;)

Thanks again! I’ll have to tell my daughter to watch her email. Will it also be on her portal?
