@sweetpuppy Oh god I didn’t want to make you feel bad! My goal wasn’t to pull the poverty card; if you’ve got the funds to visit and want to visit Rice, totally, by all means, do it. Didn’t mean to make things confrontational, super sorry.
@ethiopienne They sent me a ticket and everything already, and I think I heard back late August…? I don’t recall exactly when.
@jfleit18 Yeah I know the feeling – the pressure to visit and interview sucks, especially when you’re applying to a bunch of places and there’s a non-zero cost of visiting places.
FWIW - for those of you that haven’t spent time in Houston, the historical average temp for the dates of the SOAR program are a high of 87, low of 69. It tends to rain for an hour or so too.
So I inquired about the details on the program airport stuff, schedule etc out of curiosity lol. And the response I received was:
You will receive more details regarding contact information, what to bring and how to meet up with us at the airport within the next 10 days. We are arranging for shuttle service here in Houston to bring you to campus.
How nation-wide is this event? We are from Round Rock, TX - a few miles north of Austin. Also, does anyone know where the “only 60” kids figure came from?
