Soc?!!!

ok so i got a likely and i'm about 85-90% sure I'll be attending Wellesley...hopefully with some great aid...but in regards to the Spring Open House whose going? and for any current/past students would you definitely recommend attending this? B/c I was planning on visiting during my spring break which is the last week of march and first week of april...

Colleges serve better food during their open houses.

ha...yea i noticed...^_^

They served sloppy joes for lunch during my SOC at Wellesley. They were pretty lousy (and a rare occurence now that I go here and eat the food every day!).

College visits are a great excuse to miss school, but with APs and stupid final projects, it's not always the smartest idea.

Wellesley's SOC is the 18,19, and 20.

Some people feel independant visits are the best way to go because the campus is more honest. If you sleep over when school is in session you can get an idea of how students feel about their work and what they do on a typical night on campus. People sleep over when it isn't SOC.

On the other hand, the BOA gets the student orgs and the departments to do tables and tours. While you may not see so much of what Wellesley is like, you will get to see what it has to offer in a far broader sense There are also class visits (which can be arranged if you are doing your own overnight). The bookstore offers discounts on merchandise. On the minus side, you will have the pants bored off you by some panel presentations and speeches.

Your personally planned visit will do. If you just want to get a feel for the school and can figure out whether you want to contact and departments on your own to ask for an introduction, that's probably fine. In any event, whatever panel or department head you missed at Spring Open Campus will be back for orientation with a full bonus supply of name games galore!

wow thanks for the great note! i actually don't know when i'll be visiting, but i think i'll just miss school and attend the SOC...i'll probably accomplish more on my own studying than wasting time in class anyway :/

umm...did anyone try registering for SOC? the site said that registering for the event was closed! help! >_<

never mind! the website said that registration opens on march 24th...
