So I'm planning on rushing a social sorority located on the Row this semester, but I am also interested in Honors societies. Am I allowed to be a part of both? For example, can I rush Greek, accept a bid to say, KAT, and also be a member of the honors society Alpha Lambda Delta, or Alpha Epsilon Delta... (or both of these honors societies and a greek membership... :D)

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I’m also wondering about this! Honor societies don’t seem to be as intense as social frats, so hopefully we can join both. I was also wondering about Alpha Phi Omega-I know in other schools it’s an actual fraternity, but it is more along the lines of a service club at USC?

Yes.

Honorary Greek letter organizations such as Alpha Lambda Delta are completely different from social sororities. It is certainly possible, if you qualify, to be a member of an honorary in addition to being an initiated lifetime member of a NPC sorority.

If you check the individual websites of the social sororities, it is noted on their list of organizations if members belong to Alpha Lambda Delta, Phi Beta Kappa, Pi Lambda Theta, Order of Omega and other honoraries. All the groups want to have members who belong to these prestigious organizations.

Thanks Georgia Girl. I’m not sure if you answered this, but to be clear, can we be members of more than one honors society?

Yes. For example, as a freshman one can pledge and become a member of XYZ social sorority and be tapped for Alpha Lambda Delta. Later, if you excel in certain schools one might be tapped for Phi Beta Kappa. Upon graduation on your resume you will be able to list XYZ Sorority, Alpha Lambda Delta and Phi Beta Kappa.

For Alpha Lambda Delta, if you get a 3.5 either your first semester or year, they send you an application, you send it back with like $70 and you’re a lifetime member.
