guess i'll hop the bandwagon then :) anyone have any opinions about "diversity and racial conflict" (soci 142gm with ransford)? i'm currently registered for that, but now "social problems" (soci 150gm with kaplan) and "changing family forms" (soci 169gm with pilliteri) sound interesting, too..

I'm registered for that class as well, but with Emeka. Social Problems and Changing Family Forms are both closed for now until they open up more spots for other orientations I think.

Anyone know if Contemporary Moral and Social Issues with Gideon Yaffe is a good class?

How about "Language, Society, and Culture"? It sounds like a really interesting class, but I've heard some horrifying comments about Silva-Corvalan? Care to share any light?

And on a side note, is BUAD-304 (organizational behavior) a lot easier than Calculus 118 (Haskell)? I'd like to start the beginning of the year slow and steady...

I was just going to comment about LING 115, Language, Society, and Culture. I took the class with Ed Finegan, and I loved it! We had several papers (usu 6 pages) but no major term papers. We also did several activities including recording and transcribing conversations. The readings were interesting (he even wrote the textbook) and you can get substantial credit for the class by doing JEP.

We had Silva-Corvalan as a guest lecturer one class for Spanish in the USA, and she also seemed good, although I only had her for one day. I definitely recommend the class with Finegan, though.
