Hi,
I have been accepted to Indiana and it is one of my top schools but I have not made a decision yet. I am looking for a school with a really strong social life where students are friendly and outgoing. I have heard a lot of great things about Indiana except that you aren’t anyone if you aren’t in greek life. I am not sure if I would want to rush and be apart of a sorority and besides I have heard its crazy competitive. Basically, if you aren’t in greek life, do you still have a good social life at Indiana? Thanks!
Yes you can still have a social life without being in a frat/sorority. I am never going to rush and none of my friends that I have made here are rushing either. I am from Indiana, but one of my best friends is from Colorado and he says the people here are nice. I also agree with him. Being a part of Greek life is definitely not necessary
There are so many other options for a social life at IU other than the greek system. I was in the Greek system and had a lot of friends there but had great friends through my SAB group as well. I still stay in contact with both groups. If you aren’t rushing, please get involved with a student group on campus that aligns with your passions or your interests. Throw yourself into it and you’ll never be lacking for friends. Most of the student groups on campus do have Greek members but there are a lot of non-Greek members in high leadership positions as well. It is really what you make of it.
