Social Life at ND

Can a current female student talk about what a typical weekend would be like for a girl who works very hard but also
likes to go out and have fun on the weekends? Since there aren’t any sororities or frats, are there other parties/events going on either on or off campus for kids to socialize during the weekend? (I’m sure the sports events are huge and a lot of fun). Obviously drinking is not allowed at any college under the age of 21, but I’m assuming drinking does occur albeit not as prevalent as other schools. Is there a more strict drinking code being that it’s a Catholic school? I also heard there are curfews (aka parietals) in the dorms. Have you found this to be a nuisance? I’ve read good things about Eddy Street Commons. Is it in walking distance? Do students go out to restaurants on the weekends? Are there any clubs where you can go if you’re only 18, perhaps to see a band?

Male student here, so my perspective might not be what you’re looking for, but I can still comment on drinking/parties. The lack of a Greek scene has absolutely no affect on the party scene (except for maybe making parties less cliquish/exclusive) because the dorms all throw parties. Parties are more common in guys’ dorms, since the staff are very leniant there. There are also lots of off campus parties at houses/apartments. If you have a fake ID, there are many popular bars around here.

There are 2 clubs here, Legends is open to all students and is next to the football stadium (they have a band/DJ there every weekend). Club Fever also has bands once in awhile, but its mainly a place for underclassmen to drink/dance.

All in all, ND has a very underrated social scene. You can have lots of fun if you know where to look.
