Social life at the University of Miami

Hi all,

I am considering attending the University of Miami because it has everything I’m looking for. The campus, the sports, the school spirit, and the weather make it very appealing. One thing that concerns me is the social dynamic. Miami is a cool city but South Beach not a place where I want to spend every weekend. I have heard that going to clubs is a big part of social life at the U. I like the idea of being part of a fraternity and going to parties, but I don’t want to spend all of my time trying to get into clubs. How prevalent is this? How do students spend their free time?

FYI - The school is Coral Gables and there are many fun things to do in nearby Coconut Grove. Then of course there are home football games.
