Social Life/ Housing at U of T

I'm a transfer student from George Mason University, Virginia to U of T in the 2nd year. I've been accepted to St. Mike's College, but as a transfer I have no guaranteed housing. I've put myself on U of T's waiting list for housing but how likely is it that I'd get it? Does being an international student give me an advantage? And if not, where is a good place to live? Everywhere seems so expensive or has strict rules about visitors.

One of my main reasons why I left GMU was because the social life was awful and there was no sense of school spirit because most of the school commuted from home. Whats the social scene like at Toronto? I was reading a thread that McGill was had more of a community feel and I have also applied there but have yet to hear back.

How does this work? Do freshmen have guaranteed housing?

^^^^Housing is guaranteed for all first year students. And to OP the social scene at uoft is not all that great in comparison to Mcgill. The city itself its awesome but the campus life not so much (as ive heard).
