social life in the honors program

I have been accepted into the honors program, but have heard from a couple friends that the people in the program are not interested in going out and that a fun social life is hard to balance with the coursework or general atmosphere. I am not someone who is necessarily interested in joining a sorority, but I would like to be a part of Michigan's great social scene. Would this be possible in the honors program?

Hahahahahaha, whoever your friends are are totally wrong.
A ton of my friends are in honors and all they do is go out Thursday - Saturday and party.
I don’t think you should be worried. They say there’s a mix though so if you’re not really into going out, you’ll have people who don’t want to either.

thanks thats a relief!

Two questions: my son was accepted to UM last November, and he’s trying to decide between another smaller school and UM. He’s a liberal arts/psych/religion-type major and it’s IMPOSSIBLE to figure out how to compare the schools beyond the “rankings” of USNWR and a “gut” feeling. Most of these threads are about pre-professional schools, business etc and not liberal arts. Anyone out there with thoughts on how UM does in the non-pre-professional areas?

Wait- second question, what are the qualifications for the Honors program at UM?

I was worried about the same thing! I’ve decided to join the program & do honors housing, but hopefully there will be more people who want to go out and have a life aside from studying.
