honors program

I just got in and I'm so excited!! anyone else?

Me too!!! Got in last week

How long ago did you guys apply (AKA How long did you have to wait)?
And congratulations!!

It took 3 weeks for my decision

I just got in today too; it took exactly three weeks for me to get a decision (after the three day processing period).

I’m not convinced it’d be worth it for me to be in the Honors College if I get in.

My son may end up enrolling at UM. Is it too late to apply for the Honors program?

Psycho - ask the Program. If your son has great stats, I would tell them that the Program is a deciding factor. Its worth it for the housing at South Quad alone.

is it a lot more work? and other than housing what are the main perks?

also, do a lot of honors students go Greek?

I’m a freshman in honors and the residential college and I’d say the biggest perk for me so far of being in honors was the opportunity to have a professor in my biology discussion section instead of a GSI. GSIs can be very hit or miss (I had a fairly bad one for Stats 250). I also really enjoyed my freshman RC seminar (which was honors).

I don’t think it’s THAT much more work, honestly…my bio discussion had the exact same assignments as the other sections.

And I have to say that even if the housing is the only plus, it is a HUGE one. I live in West Quad right now and although it’s kind of old the rooms are large and the location is great.
