How are the people here at Davis? Are they open-minded or conservative?
Will I be able to have a nice social life here or is it boring?
I mean social life as in meeting people and doing fun things that doesn’t involve partying since I don’t do those kind of stuff lol.
There are hella clubs there and each time I’ve been to the campus people are really nice. If they know you’re touring the campus in a group or something they’ll greet you by saying what’s up future aggies.
If you like a small town feel, then you will like Davis. If you want a big city feel like SF, then Davis may not be right for you. You do have Sacramento within a 20 min drive for more of the city activities, but at Davis the town revolves around the university. Downtown is always bustling with activity, many restaurants and a few bars, movie theaters etc…
I agree with @napapapa, that you need to visit and tour the campus and town to get a better prospective. You can definitely have a good social life depending upon which what you prefer to do. Davis students and residents are very friendly and there are diverse groups from liberal to conservative. It is up to you to find your tribe.
The social life is entirely what you make of it, which is either good or bad depending on the type of person you are. In my experience the people who enjoy the social life here are the types that’ll go find their fun without expecting it to come to them.
As far as atmosphere, one of the things I love about Davis is the friendly and cooperative atmosphere. I feel like that friendliness rubs off on you if you’re here long enough, too. I know it rubbed off on me after I was here for a couple years.
