I am a rising junior in high school and perspective NU student. I was just wondering what the social life is like at Northwestern. Like, what do most kids do on the weekends? Are there a lot of parties? If so, are there a lot of fraternity/sorority parties? I come from middle class so will I be able to fit in with all of the upper class kids that go to Northwestern if I get accepted and decide to enroll? Any advice from current students would be great. Thanks

I’m wondering the same thing…

Although only a medium sized private school, NU is big enough and diverse enough where you can find anyone to do anything. A good deal of people may like to party on the weekends, some are more inhibited/introspective, some dig the arts scenes - honestly, whatever floats your boat will be found in excess. While we’re no sports powerhouse (except for a few more low key areas), Northwestern is still in the Big Ten, and the sports scene is very existent if you prefer that. Also, I believe that around a third of people are in sororities or fraternities, but it can obviously feel like more or less depending on what (and who) you’re interested in.

Oh, and by the way…this:

=EPIC FAIL

I think as a middle class kid you will be able to fit in. something like 60% of NU’s students are on financial aid
