Hey i was just wondering what Social Life is like at Clemson. I heard somewhere that you pretty much HAVE to be in a frat/sorority, is that true or are there non greek parties etc?

There are non-greek parties but if you want to be sure that you will have access to a party every week, greek life appears to be the way to go. I’m not in greek life though and I still find tons of parties to go to, just not as much as people in greek life.

You certainly don’t have to be in a fraternity/sorority to party/have opportunities to party. While greek life appears big on campus, only ~25% of students are in fraternities/sororities. I know people that go out 3+ times a week that aren’t in fraternities, and people that go out once (or none) a week who are in fraternities.

I think it is most important thing is to be outgoing and get involved. The big advantage of greek life when it comes to partying is you have 30+ good friends in your fraternity/sorority alone, so there are usually others who also want to do something. If you meet a lot of people, join some clubs, etc. you can achieve the same thing without going greek. It’s really just a personal preference, and I wouldn’t suggest going greek only for the parties.

^agreed with Mitch, just keep in mind that Greek Life is only 20-25% of the school so not everybody is in Greek life.

Thanks that helps a lot :)
