Hi! I’m looking to apply early decision to Wake Forest, but I don’t want to without getting a very good feel for the social life. Honestly, I am looking for a place where the students work hard but still know how to have a good time. I’m also looking to join a sorority. What is a typical Friday or Saturday night? Since the greek life is in dorms, how are the frat parties so popular? Do students get in trouble often? Are game days big days for tailgating with friends? Give me all the info you can!
Thanks,
(Hopefully) A Future Deac
Are you sure that you are willing to make the commitment to apply ED to Wake? Your 2 other threads from the past few weeks name 2 schools in CA that are both “easily” your “first choice.” I’m a parent and I recommend you think long and hard about an ED commitment.
Have you had a chance to visit or interview at Wake? It might make more sense to do so in the early fall when the students are on campus, so you can see first hand what the feel of the school is what you want.
This question comes up so much in this thread. Google is your best friend.
Anyways, sororities put a lot of pressure on young women during the second semester of freshman year. Over 50% of women pledge at WFU. Friday and Saturday nights are spent in frat houses (off campus) or lounges (rented space on campus). Frat parties are popular because there isn’t anything else going on on the weekends. WFU promotes responsible drinking rather than abstaining because they know they won’t be able to control that. Most people only attend the tailgates for football games, “hang out”, and leave once the game starts.
That was before I visited Wake Forest. My opinion changed after my visit @GnocchiB
