Obviously i wont be going to Georgia Tech for the parties but as a prospective engineering major who likes to party, would i fit in. For instance, UMich has top notch academics in engineering but at the same time, provides opportunities for people who like to party. Social scene is not my main concern in picking a college but i do not want to struggle to find a group of friends who like to party from time to time.

If someone could comment on the social scene, that would be great. Tyia

About a fourth of the campus is involved with Greek Life. (The involvement percentage is about the same for men and women which ironically makes the Greek ratio equal to the overall ratio.) If you enjoy frat parties, you’ll find at least one every Friday. Moreover, we love our football team, so if you enjoy the sport or just enjoy relaxing with friends in that type of environment, you’re covered.

There are a lot of nerds at Tech. In fact, I would actually argue that everyone here is a nerd, even the athletes. During class, I’ve seen football players watch youtube videos of expert Guitar Hero runs. This doesn’t mean, however, that you’re going to struggle to find people who like to party every now and then.

We have all the parties you can think of. It’s just a matter of where to go and who to know for the right one. The typical idea of a party, which i’m assuming you’re interested in, is the top-40-playing packed frat house with a beer counter. In this case, you need only find frat row after 9pm on fridays (and saturdays, but not as common) like fabrizio said.

If you want a different frat party with noticeably Tech-oriented people. Try Psi Upsilon.

If you want to be with a large group of friends/acquaintances and just do whatever and have fun, just remember you’re in Atlanta. Whatever you want it’s somewhere nearby; also it’s not a bad idea to have some friends with a house in Home Park.

If you want a party geared to a specific culture or whatever, there are plenty of clubs and societies around here that has some large social function every week.

Finally, if you don’t feel like partying one night, no biggie. There are plenty of people in your residence hall or apartment building that have more interesting things to do.
