Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers

Hello,

Has anyone here been to a SHPE conference? I'm thinking of going for the conference since I'm a member of the chapter at my university ( friend got me into it ). However, I'm not Hispanic.. I've heard that quite a few people get interview requests or co-op's through these conferences. Since I am not hispanic, however, would I get lucky like that or are they looking specifically for hispanics to fill in their "hispanic" quota, if one does exist? Are they there only there to recruit hispanics or are they open to recruiting international students such as myself too?

Any personal experiences?

Thanks

bump…

I knew plenty of non-Hispanic students within SHPE and I was even a member of Society of Women Engineers. I’m not really sure about recruiting at the conference but I feel it’s a great networking and leadership activity that can’t really do you harm .
