So yes, I am a Sociology major community college student that got accepted to UCI, but got rejected to UCSD. I really don't want to move to Irvine because I want to stay here in San Diego, but I don't want to waste a whole year so I already submitted my intent to register at UCI. However, I am wondering if I can transfer to UCSD. If so, when can I transfer? And what are the requirements?

If anyone had the same experience and was able to successfully transferred, please help me. My heart is really heavy right now as I don't want to move at all. Any help will be appreciated.

As a community college student by now you should have understood the rules for UC transfers. They only accept kids in the fall, and most UC schools have rules against accepting seniors or high unit juniors. You should talk with a counselor at your school or contact San Diego to check the specific rules for UCSD, but my bet is that by the time you finish a year at Irvine you will have too many units to transfer.

It is unfortunate you didn’t take advantage of the TAG program. This was the last year San Diego participated and would have given you guaranteed admission.

You’ll get over it after you move. At least you got into UCI which is an amazing school. You’ll love it ! and congrats1
It’s less than 100 miles with a similar climate and topology and 2 years in Orange County is far from torture…
You’ve been given a tremendous opportunity - make the most of your time in Irvine, then move back if you want.
