I wear Acuvue lenses, not max. I was going to estimate they were 1/2" wide. 14.3mm is just over 1/2". Much smaller than my eyeball. I can’t imagine them being an issue.
The advances in the lens have been tremendous over the past few years. You should probably revisit wearing them. I couldn’t wear them for years because they never came in my strength but lo and behold they do now.
I wish I could!
I am a KC patient and soft are not an option for me to correct my vision. It is something I keep my eye on (pun intended) … both with regards to 6 month visits to Dr. and paying attention to advances in lenses.
I’ve worn soft contact lenses for 45 years but have never had any anywhere near as big as you are describing. Mine are a tiny bit bigger than my iris.
25 years or so ago, contact lense manufacturing changed and now have a much higher water content than older ones. I never know mine are in unless I have a migraine and then I can’t get them out fast enough.
Yes
The box said 14.3 mm
I looked this morning. I have biotrue multifocal lenses and they are 8.3mm.
I would ask the optometrist for another option if those aren’t working.
Much bigger than mine and I think mine are pretty large
That’s likely the base curve, not the diameter. The diameter of Biotrue for Presbyopia is 14.2 mm
Edit: Are you sure it is Biotrue and that it is 8.3? I don’t see any Biotrue lenses with an 8.3 base curve. Their multifocal and spherical lenses are 8.6, astigmatism is 8.4
Thanks fir the link. The contacts I have are about twice that size! Plus, the more I think about it, not sure I’d like daily lenses to have to travel with.
Daily lens can be worn more than one day, so if you are on a trip you could get by with just one extra pair. Depending on length of trip, of course.
I wear Acuvue Moist daily wear contacts. They are the 14.2 size and fit well.
I had the Acuvue Moist for a long time but the Acuvue Oasys were much more comfortable.
I wear the Oasys too and like them very much.
I got them in! It was easier than I thought. They are very comfortable, but I’ll need to wear a few hours to see. They don’t seem quite as sharp as my gas perms though. Now….taking them out!
Taking them out is easy. Just look up a bit, pull the contact towards the bottom of your eye with your index finger then just come from both sides with index finger and thumb and gently squeeze it together and pull it away.
I was heading out the door this morning so I hurried. Never hurry.
I have Bausch and Lomb Biotrue one day lenses for presbyopia.
DIA 14.2 mm. BC 8.6mm. My prescription is -8.50 and -7.50. Yes I am extremely near sighted.
They are extremely easy to travel with. No solutions. I mark left and right lenses with a sharpie and throw them in a plastic bag. I don’t think they count for liquids because they are medical. At least I’ve never been flagged on any trips I’ve been on.
I throw out the contacts at the end of the day and put new ones in the next day. I never wear mine more than one day.
I don’t see great at night in my contacts but I think it’s my prescription and that they are multi focal. But I see better than I did with one lens for far away and one for near.
So far loving the comfort, but not having the crispness I have with my gas perms. I keep blinking to make it fell like it will come in focus.
I have the exact same prescription @deb922. My D is -11 in both eyes!
