Not because God is a Tarheel

The sky is blue and the sun gold because God is a NAVY fan, baby! :)

What an AWESOME post to hit 91 with! WOO-HOO! :)

It is ABSOLUTELY a Christmas Tree!

"The sky is blue and the sun gold because God is a NAVY fan, baby."

If this is original, then you are a poet!

"It is ABSOLUTELY a Christmas Tree!"

Thats the beauty of our great nation! It is whatever you choose it to be. One thing we can never do, (nor should we ever be able to) is to presume to tell someone else what it is or should mean to them. This is at the root of our freedom to think and of our freedom to believe or not.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all!!

So if its sunny and bright God is rooting for Navy. That would mean that when its dark and gray, He's rooting for Army.

The problem is that, like with all things, Mom's rule and Mary is always rooting for Notre Dame!

When it's dark and grey, God is absent.

Which is about as bad as being at Army. ;)

ehm. "Grey" reminds me. I have a little something to say:

Stand Navy down the field
Sails set to the sky,
We'll never change our course,
So Army you steer shy-y-y-y
Roll up the score Navy
Anchor's Aweigh,
Sail Navy down the field
and sink the Army, sink the Army Grey.

If you are one that believes in intelligent design [considering some of the posts that are made herein, that may be an indefensible belief], then to be intellectuallly consistent, you should answer that we perceive the sky to be blue because God wants us to perceive the sky to be blue. That is, God simply likes a blue sky. [Which may be consistent with a Navy outlook on life.]

For those of you that believe in evolution, and to whom God is less of a factor, then a scientific answer will suffice.

or both.

Maybe God likes a blue sky and that's why gasses absorb blue light waves.

Yes, I believe in Intelligent Design. I also know that God, in His infinite wisdom, is a Navy fan.

As such, He designed the sky blue and the sun gold to rain his grace upon the finest Navy in history, and to remind all scurvy landlubbing chunks of mung of their stature in the Great Scheme of Things (namely, down in the dirt with the rest of the worms).

Science can drone on and on about wavelengths, but we know the Truth, don't we? ;)

Its a christmas tree, and God is a navy fan.... get over it! (but He puts lots of those nice blue skies over the Hudson too....) Happy shopping everyone!
Gift idea?.... Mariner's Cross....found a beauty at Overstock.com

What time is the game on tv this Saturday? After the game, we are decorating the Christmas tree. ( fake one this year) You would think in Oregon that you could buy a reasonably priced quality tree. For the past 3 years its been a huge rip off and they dried up.

Go Navy!!!

2:30pm EST on CBS.

At 2:30 on Saturday, this forum will be totally vacant until the half. :)

AND ITS A CHRISTMAS TREE. Every German imigrant in the country is rolling their eyes over this. Mine happens to be up with gold and blue decorations just in time for the game! GO NAVY!

Until the advent of political correctness and now added to the mix, relativism...a Christmas Tree was a Christmas Tree! The custom began in 16th century Germany and is NOT related to ancient pagan rituals....brought to America by the Germans, it then gained acceptance among many Americans of differing heritage in the late 18th, early 19th century.

The name of the day itself: "Christmas"...gives its very meaning to the holiday.

The word holiday comes from the Old English, halig daeg, which means Holy Day.

See below for history of Christmas Tree from a secular source....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christmas_tree

The following is an excerpt from an article written by Tom Piatak (full article link below)

" ...In one generationI was born in 1964Christmas has gone from being a widespread and joyous public celebration to the holiday that dare not speak its name. We now have holiday trees, holiday cards, holiday parties, holiday songs, ....The result of sanitizing Christmas is now within sight: an undistinguished, uninspiring public celebration, devoid of religious or cultural significance or indeed of beauty, with nothing left but multiculturalist pap and tawdry commercialism. I do not believe that grim fate is inevitable. But that future will indeed be ours if we remain so unnerved by the thought of giving offense to those looking for a reason to be offended that we are afraid to celebrate our own culture, tradition, and religion."

Sorry folks ...i suppose all of this is off topic for CC ... but a nerve was struck!

Anyway, wishing all of you a very merry and blessed Christmas.....No offense intended!
Happy Chanukkah too

Awesome Prayerful mom! Imagine if you will, the first guy/gal that came up with "holiday tree". That Grinch had to have gotten a lump of coal in their stocking and may need years of therapy. I'm in dread of someone actually saying to me that they have a holiday tree. I'll peg them in the head with my candy cane. Then send Rudolf over to their front lawn to knock down their snowman. No fudge this year for them!

And one last thing....Put the Santa back on the Coke can!!

GO NAVY!

VERY SAD NEWS

There will be no Nativity Scene in Washington, DC this year!

The Supreme Court has ruled that there cannot be a Nativity Scene in Washington, DC this Christmas season. This isn't for any religious reason, they simply have not been able to find three wise men and a virgin in the Nation's capitol.

There was no problem, however, finding enough asses to fill the stable.

Jamzmom,
I love the blue/gold christmas tree idea. I think I will make one for my son's room.

I didn't mean to cause a stir regarding Christmas trees but it seems like the new "holiday" tree term is whats wrong with society. My son loves this country and what it stands for and he wants to commit himself to the military to protect its existence. I hope that the academy doesn't move too far in this "pc" direction and lose its greatness.

Oops ....! Regarding Christmas trees in the USA.. I meant to write late 19th and early 20th century.

Wow, I am surprised that in Oregon buying a live tree would be cost prohibitive.
Although, here in Pa. the price keeps going up every year as well. I guess soon I will have to capitulate and buy a fake tree!

Jamzmon, when you finish decorating your blue and gold tree, please take a PIC and post.

I know that at USMMA they are encouraged to decorate the halls for Christmas.
