Some advice please! International student Penn state UP or Michigan State Honors

About me: International student, Indian, looking for a major in engineering.

I have received admission in Penn state University park in the DUS(Department of Undergraduate Studies), and into the college of Engineering in Michigan State University Honors College.

Based on Rankings, I would have chosen Penn state already, but I have gotten into the Honors college for Michigan but not Penn. Also I have heard that Michigan is better for international students.

I plan to play Soccer at the highest level possible and Table Tennis too.

Anyone out there, with some experience, could you please help me?

Help will be appreciated, thanks.

Bump! Please people… I’m sorry to burden you, but I guess I did not research my safe universities very well…

If you intend to major in Engineering, and Michigan is not significantly more expensive for you than Penn State, go to Michigan. At Penn State you would need to meet certain standards before you could be admitted into an Engineering major because you are starting in DUS. What will you do if you aren’t accepted in Engineering? Do you have an alternate major in mind?

Actually Penn state is more expensive for me. Also, my major concern is about the diversity of students at penn state. I wanted to know how much interaction is there within different ethnic and racial groups.

I don’t mind working hard, because on the basis of rankings for engineering, Penn state is was above Michigan State. So I have all but chosen Penn state, but I was just a bit reluctant because I’ve heard that its not vey diverse.

Neither school is really all that diverse. That said, being in the Honors College is a great opportunity and Penn State is not ranked significantly higher that Michigan State. In your situation I would actually opt for Michigan State especially if it is less costly.
