I'm a first year who has put a lot (perhaps too much) thought into my schedule. The first adviser registration meeting did not help directly with class considerations. I did however gain some insights from the second years during the second registration meeting. I was hoping some others could take a look at the pending schedule I like the most:

Readings in World Lit
Social Science Inquiry
Ecology (not many choices :-)
Honors Calc (non IBL)

When I told my adviser I wasn't very good at analyzing literary texts, she recommended that I take a Civ course (I love history) instead of SOSC. However, I have heard that Social Science Inquiry is a bit more analytical and not a "traditional" core course. I really did want to take SOSC first year though so would this course be suitable depending on my situation or should I try Civ instead?

I don't know much about Readings in World Lit but the short works mentioned seemed very interesting (I like poetry as well).

Honors Calc is mostly set in stone after I talked with Diane Hermann today. I placed into 199 but it seems the option of Honors Analysis still empowers me to give up my calc credit. Besides going through the math track of the math w/ econ major faster, are there other compelling reasons to take 199 instead of 160's?

I was disappointed with the nonmajor topics course offerings. Since Core Bio is taken care of by ap credit, it seems that the only other option besides ecology that interests me is chemistry of biology. Would anyone recommend chem of bio?

Any comment or feedback is much appreciated.
