Some help in choosing LLCs?

Hi folks,
I’m an incoming freshman at Northeastern (Psych major and Pre-med at CoS) I was just having some troubles regarding choosing LLCs and was hoping you could help. There are a few I’m interested in, and I don’t quite know what to choose. The one I’m most interested in probably is Music Motifs. I absolutely adore music, and I spend a good portion of my day listening to music and actively finding new music to listen to. I’m also a musician, but I really only play guitar and bass and I’m also sort of just alright at both, so I don’t really put as much stress on that when weighing my options. I also really like Kerr hall - I have a friend who was there this year, he said it was legitimately his favorite dorm out of the ones he’s been to. However, my parents really don’t like the music LLC. They read some stuff online which said it was “the party dorm”, “the weed dorm”, etc. I’m also kind of averse to drug use, so I’m a bit worried if there’s a pressure to do drugs there, or if the majority of the people do drugs there. Either way, there’s a slim chance that I’m even gonna be allowed to dorm there, so I’m looking for alternatives.
I have two close friends who are going to be dorming in Fusion (not together, we all sort of agreed not to dorm together because we determined we’d just eventually get on each other’s nerves and probably kill each other haha). I know that Fusion is spread in a few buildings across campus, but I saw somewhere that it was partly in International Village, which just seems like the best dorm building objectively (gym AND the best cafeteria on campus just a few stops on the elevator away). However, I feel like I’d have a hard time fitting in there considering the myriad of different people that I’m gonna be living with. I just feel like it’s going to be a very wide-spread, not very tight-knit community. Then again, it would be fun to talk about vastly different things with vastly different people I guess.
The College of Science LLC seems interesting considering I’m gonna be in the College of Science. I’ll automatically have people with similar interests because I’m gonna be pursuing the same things in life as they are. I’d also probably be helpful because I’d be taking a lot of the same classes as them, and as such could probably organize study groups with them easier since we’d all be in the same place. Correct me if I’m wrong, but this dorm seems fairly intellectual - probably the best choice if I want to solely focus on academics. It would also probably be helpful in getting tips on how to get involved with research, what cool research is going on on campus, other things that peers are involved in that I could also potentially get involved in. However, I don’t really know much about which building it’s in, what it’s like, and what the people are really like. Plus, on a bunch of other posts on different forums I’ve always seen to avoid dorming with the same people you’re gonna be in class with - apparently you’ll get tired of seeing them all day or something like that. That’s also the only potential one where I wouldn’t know anyone who was already there/is going to be there.
I suppose those are my three top choices. I mean, there are a bunch of Honors LLCs which I would love to be in (Film Critics, Explore Boston, Outdoor Adventure, Music Lovers which seems like Music Motifs but without the drugs), but alas, I didn’t make it into honors. I assume I can’t dorm there because of that (please correct me if I’m wrong) so that pretty much leaves me with those three (really two if I’m being honest) options. Do you guys have any suggestions? Any insights on these LLCs? Any advice on choosing/living in LLCs? Any general advice on going to Northeastern I guess? Thank you all for your help, and I look forward to seeing you all on campus in (hopefully) Fall.

LLC’s move around (Kerr is an exception), so don’t pick one based on building. I think you’re overthinking LLC’s a bit here, it’s not going to be radically different for the most part. I can’t imagine not fitting into the fusion LLC for example, the point is exactly that there will be a mix of people - you’re saying you won’t mesh with any of those?

I lived in Kerr and would say you’re probably right to avoid it if alcohol/weed makes you uncomfortable, so it’d be between fusion and COS.

When it comes to living with people you’re in classes, it’s really up to preference. Fusion will mean you’ll get a better shot at developing social circles outside your major, COS will be leaning in. I don’t think I’d say either is more intellectual though. IMO just pick between that choice - leaning fully into your major socially or going for variety. There’s not a wrong answer there at a high level, that’s up to your preferences.
