Do any Isla Vista apts have leases that don’t require a summer commitment? I have an incoming freshman who will be living in the dorms for a year, and then probably moving to Isla Vista. But I don’t want to pay for 3 months (x 3 years) of rent we may not even need! What are the best options for sophomores who may not want the mayhem of the Del Playa scene?

Almost all places have year long leases, either the summer before or after the school year. Most people sublease their apartments for the summer months on Craigslist.

Nor does anybody else. That’s why landlords make students sign year-long leases, otherwise they’d eat 3 mos of rent every year.

only garden court has a month to month lease that i can think of

yeah iv is its own unique environment filled with students

dragondawg, whats the deal with older students in IV? Been outta college for a bit, but looking to go back and head to SBCC 1st. Whats the median age group? 25 be too old? Looking to still have a good time, but not trying to hangout with freshman and sophmores. good atleast 21 up vibe?
