Do most kids use flip-flops for the shower, or other sandals?

Do kids use a bath towel, beach towel or bathrobe?

Closets have doors

no clue

yes

not really. it's still really hot.

by mid september you don't need AC anymore

there are two storage companies that work with Penn. Penn dorms don't really have anything to do with storage

Get a big fan for the room and maybe another small one for your bed.

Mattresses (like in all dorms) aren't that comfortable. Get a mattress pad, egg crate, and other stuff if you're like me

no idea what that is

floors are linoleum

some people do. you can if you want

yes

no idea.

it's really up to you. I used a collapsible one last year and opted for a big one this year

yes hill bathrooms are disgusting. regardless of where you live, use flip flops for the bathroom if it's a community bathroom

most guys run around in a towel. girls usually have a bathrobe, at least in my hall.

A lot of your questions can go for other dorms as well. Gregory and KCECH do not have AC so you will want a fan for them too. Riepe and half of Ware have wood floors. The rest is linoleum. I would strongly advise you to try and not live in Hill freshman year. Try the Quad. It might be slightly less social, but the rooms are bigger, it has AC, Spring Fling is there, it's in a more central location (for non engineers anyway), and fire alarms aren't pulled every weekend like they are in Hill.

Do the clsoets have doors?

most but a few don't

Will the usual ovt rack fit?

don't know what that is

Is hill overheated in the winter?

it's a little warm but not miserable

I know hill is hot in September in the day, but does it cool off at night?

still pretty warm

Wwhen do the days in Philly start to cool off?

mid september

If you live in Hill,w where do you store your stuff over the summer?

wherever anyone else does

How many fans are good, one or two? Clip-on? Floor. Desk style?

depends on the type... my roommate has a nice standing one that we put on top of the fridge.. called the hawiaan breeze i think?

Are the mattresses comfortable or lumpy?

average, same in all dorms

Do most kids use a topper?

if you mean mattress topper, i've seen everything from like $500 tempurpedic things to $5 egg crate foam things. I have the latter and one of the more comfy beds I've experienced

What are the floors made of?

linoleum

11.Do most kids have an area rug/s?
- some do, some don't. i don't because it gets dirty

Do most kids put up posters? Other decorations?

yes

Are there washers on every floor?

there are four laundry rooms, all between the third and fourth floors. one in each corner of the building directly off the staircase. each room has four washers and four dryers. they're free and usually not too crowded.

Do most kids use collapsible mesh hampers?

personal preference

Do most kids use flip-flops for the shower, or other sandals?

definitely unless they're disgusting and have major hygiene issues

Do kids use a bath towel, beach towel or bathrobe?
I'm a girl and i just use a towel, but people use whatever they're comfortable with

Thank you so much Venkat89 and tickytock14.

I have a few more questions if you wouldn't mind. Thanks again.

Would you talk a little about the communal kitchens in Hill? How many are there? Are there utensils, pots, pans there? Is the fridge for anyone's use? Do kids cook together there sometimes?

Besides a fridge and microwave, what appliances does Hill allow ion your room. For example, what about a rice cooker? coffee pot?

Are there bed frames that you can attach a clip-on light to?

Where do kids put their alarm clocks, bedside light?

Do most kids use bed risers? Are they really high or the 6-inch type?

Are there vending machines for drinks? snacks?

Do pizza places deliver to Hill?

What kinds of healthy convenience foods to kids keep in their rooms/fridges?

Besides the Fresh Grocer and Wawa, are ther other palces to get groceries/take-out food? What about ther Radian? Aren't there some new eateries there?

Is the Wawa at 38th and Spruce the only convenience store on campus?

Would you talk a little about the communal kitchens in Hill? How many are there? Are there utensils, pots, pans there? Is the fridge for anyone's use? Do kids cook together there sometimes?

I don't really use them but some girls on my hall do. I don't know about them at all. Each lounge has a fridge for communal use, though lots of people have fridges in their room as well.

Besides a fridge and microwave, what appliances does Hill allow ion your room. For example, what about a rice cooker? coffee pot?

not sure what is allowed officially, but I have a little thing that heats up water and a blender. have seen coffee pots and rice cookers.

Are there bed frames that you can attach a clip-on light to?

it would depend on the type of the light

Where do kids put their alarm clocks, bedside light?

depends on how you arrange your furniture. i get bored like every month and remodel haha. there's an overhead light at the front of the room by the closets. I have a floor lamp between by bed and my desk, and a clip on desk light.

Do most kids use bed risers? Are they really high or the 6-inch type?
Most people don't. 6 inches is actually really high. I had 7 for a while but took them off eventually because it gets really annoying jumping that high (and I'm tall too!), especially when drunk.

Are there vending machines for drinks? snacks?
there are drink machines but no snack machines

Do pizza places deliver to Hill?
oh yes. and week places and greek places and chinese and sushi and about everything you could ever want. some places up until 3 am. check out campusfood.com; aka my life.

What kinds of healthy convenience foods to kids keep in their rooms/fridges?
-...whatever you want? carrots yogurt etc

Besides the Fresh Grocer and Wawa, are ther other palces to get groceries/take-out food? What about ther Radian? Aren't there some new eateries there?

there's a new grocery delivery service thats okay. you can get take-out from any dining hall or whatever. there's a cvs. sometimes i'll go to trader joes or something. right by hill there's a fast food court with places like quiznos and taco bell. there are tons of restaurants/take out places that penn students use; i can't really list them all.

Is the Wawa at 38th and Spruce the only convenience store on campus?

there's another wawa closer to hill on chestnut and.. 36th maybe? also a CVS on 34th and walnut, right by hill
