Some questions i couldn't find answers to

Currently i am a freshman and as i go into my sophomore year, and the rest of high school, i have some questions that i could never really find an accurate answer to:

How many AP’s are good for acceptance, and is there a point at which taking any more will be useless?

What is an good weighted GPA on the GT GPA scale?

On the new revised 2016 SAT, is the 2100+ still good, or do will i need to score higher since the testt is more adept to modern times?

Do i need straight A’s, or are some B’s okay on my transcript?

I understand that i may not get all these answers, but any information about any of these questions would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

Its never “useless” to take AP courses. Learn as much as you can in high school. Don’t worry about credits right now just take the classes that make you excited and get a well rounded education in high school. If you can, take one or more real college course in 11th or 12th grade, at a community college in your area. That shows initiative and that you can handle college level classes. You can look up all the stats you ask for on the GT website. As far as GPA, there is weighted and unweighted, so you need to look at the GPA range and find out if you have to unweight your weighted grades (if your high school weighs the AP classes more than other classes) . Since Georgia Tech is a state school and about 30% of the applicants get in on a typical year, a few Bs are OK but not in math or science. Try to get As in your math and science courses. I think the SAT range may change with the change in the test, so stay tuned for that! All the colleges publish the stats you are wondering about for each admitted class, you can look that up for any college. Hope that helps.

Nice, that helps a lot! Thanks! As far as real college courses - i am going to complete Physics C my junior year, so is there some sort of dual enrollment with GT (i live in the suburbs of ATL) in which i can take their physics course in my senior year? Again - Thanks for your reply, it helps a lot.

The stats for the incoming fall 2015 class were posted by Tech. 96% of the admitted students have taken AP Calculus AB or higher. Average SAT with writing was 2185 (no way to tell how that will change with the new SAT), and ACT was 32. Average number of AP, IB, or Dual Enrollment classes taken in high school was 10. So, yes, you should take all the AP courses that you can handle. Most colleges want to see that you’ve challenged yourself by taking the highest courses your particular school offers. And colleges usually ask for your unweighted GPA since different high schools weigh classes differently. Work hard, challenge yourself within reason, and do your best on your standardized tests. It sounds like you are on the right path to Tech!
