Some UCLA housing questions in general

Im planning to apply to University Apartments for transfer students.

1) How often does one get the housing one puts as his top preference? I hear that continuing UCLA students already start doing theirs from early March.

2) Does anyone live in University apartments here? if yes how is the atmosphere etc.?

1) As I understand it, you have a some chance of getting either a plaza or res hall, but more likely than not you'll be put in a triple. No chance of getting a suite.

2) No idea.

1.) I'm not sure of the statistics but housing tries their best to put everyone into a room they want (of course it does depend on space and demand.) And yes, continuing students returning to housing have already selected their rooms for next year.

2.) I don't live in the University apartments, but I hear that they are pretty decent. However, I've also heard some of the apartment buildings are better than others. Unfortunately there aren't any tours for the University apartments.

Another Question:

How does one know if one's initial payment (housing transaction) went through? I just paid mine and at the end a box popped open and said it processed... and then I was redirected to another page and it said it wasn't processed. I re-logged on to myhousing and it showed the history of my payments this time and referring the ask section of myhousing about checking transactions. So, I submitted a query about whether or not my transaction went through.

(I didn't want to start another thread...)
